The Prep Basketball Tigers continue to learn and build.
Tuesday the Orange and Black made their way to Father Henry Carr where the Tigers went toe to toe with the Crusaders before a late fourth quarter charge by the home side and an injury to senior Alex Root, which saw FHC hold court with a 90-76 final.
The Tigers turned their focus to the Thornlea Invitational where they went 1-1 in the preliminary round with a 85-68 win against London Basketball Academy and a 68-65 loss to Toronto Basketball Academy.
Senior John Avgousti took the lead with point guard Root on the sidelines and finished as the Tigers’ high scorer in both matches. In Sunday’s final tournament match, the Tigers spotted a potent Canada Top Flight Academy and 20-point lead before almost closing the gap to four with less than two minutes to play. Top Flight held on for the win 83-76. Kiano Heath led the Tigers’ bench with 17 points and Gabrielle Marcotullio was a second half spark in the comeback.
This young Ridley squad continues to get battle tested against great competition, and resilience and consistency are building inside the ranks.
