Snow Captures Gold at Worlds

It was the thrill of a lifetime for Shailynn Snow ’19 and her Team Canada teammates who won the U18 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Championship final against the United States in Obihiro, Japan early Sunday morning. Bringing the long-time rivals into overtime, Canada rose to the occasion and triumphed in an exciting 3-2 win.
From the small town of 1,600 people in Clarkes Beach, Newfoundland, Shailynn’s talents, determination, personality, and risk-taking saw her dominate play as a young girl against the boys. She caught the astute eye of Ridley’s Prep Hockey Coach Amanda Wark, travelling halfway across Canada and took up the significant challenge of being a student-athlete at our school. This journey has allowed her to develop into one of the best female hockey players in Canada, winning a World Championship.
