Hockey

From the frozen canal to our new state of the art home, Tiger Arena, hockey and Ridley have been indivisible for more than 125 years.

Our hockey programme is built on the key elements of the Hockey Canada Long Term Athlete Development, which provides a systematic and consistent approach to the development of athletes. With this model, Ridley Hockey enables age and stage appropriate skills development and meaningful competition from the “FUNdamental” foundation to the “Train to Compete” and “Learn to Win” stages of the development process.

Prep Boys Hockey

Our Prep Boys Hockey team is the oldest active sports team at Ridley. This premier team competes in two of the top prep leagues in North America, which run concurrently from September to March:

These two leagues provide our athletes with a path to two different championships. The team also attends showcase events in New England and the annual National Independent School Championship.

Preparation for this level of play includes four on-ice practices per week, as well as multiple off-ice sessions, which include strength training and active recovery. Training and competition are supported by a dedicated coaching staff with national and international experience, Ridley’s athletic therapy and school medical team, a strength and conditioning coach, and other professional instructors.

Prep Girls Hockey

Ridley’s Prep Girls hockey team is our premier girls team. The team plays in two of the top school leagues in North America, which run concurrently from September to March:

These two leagues provide the First Girls Hockey team with a path to two different prep school championships. The team also attends USA Hockey and Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) showcase events.

Preparation for this level of play includes four on-ice practices, as well as multiple off-ice sessions, which include strength training and active recovery. Training and competition are supported by a dedicated coaching staff with national and international experience, Ridley’s athletic therapy and school medical team, a strength and conditioning coach, and other professional instructors.

Away from the ice, players are educated by Ridley’s dedicated professional faculty and supported by academic advisors, tutors, and a residential life staff.
